I think it was meant for people who already know the basics. Check out traceybeauty or Corrine from Threadbanger. Better tutorials and Corrine admits to not being an expert crocheter but she does a great job showing how to do the stitches. Her project was a circle scarf though but it's still a great tutorial to get used to the stitches. Also check out her video on crocheting? a hat. When I saw the video I went out the same day and bought some yarn n hooks to get started. :D

If you knew the ...
If you knew the basics you would know exactly what? they are talking about. all they said was to do a chain stitch 55 time than go up to the 2nd row and do a singel stitch 54 times. once you get to the end of the row do another chain and repeat till u have 9 inces in length. then you just sew up the sides. NOT that hard!!!!!! (p.s i'm only 13)

hi, when you sew the side together making the tube, sew along the top edge of the hat and? pull tight. it'll gather up at the top creating a kind of pleat. it depend on how you want the hat to look i suppose :) hope this helped :)
